Tardive Dyskinesia Offer Simple Technicality, Debut New Track “Thread of Life”

0

Tardive Dyskinesia. Try saying that name five times fast.

Their new album, Harmonic Confusion, is set to be released on September 9th via PlayFalse records, and their new single, “Thread of Life,” is out just in time for people to start conducting the hype train. These guys are a relatively unique sounding band emerging from Greece with some groove-ridden progressive tracks that are bursting with technicality but aren’t doing so with a reliance on traditional means. Their sound is like a blend of The Ocean, Intronaut and Textures, and fans of any of those bands ought to find themselves right at home with Tardive.

Tardive Dyskinesia’s brand of technicality is a simplified one — there aren’t any Tosin Abasi feats of jaw-dropping guitar magic — but there are dozens of awesome experimental changes, crushingly heavy riffs, and wild structures to keep the track feeling entertaining throughout its duration. The new song explores all avenues of metal from progressive twin leads to borderline melodeath, and as a result it’s definitely capable of appealing to a lot of fans of heavy music. At a running time of around seven minutes it’s a rather meager investment for a progressive track, too.
