Vh1 Classic Becomes MTV Classic on Sunday

0

It appears that the cancellation of That Metal Show was a harbinger of big changes to come at Vh1 Classic, the last holdout of old-school rock music on TV. As of Sunday, Vh1 Classic will become MTV Classic.

The change-over date is symbolic, as MTV launched on August 1st, 1981. The station will focus on MTVs material throughout the 90s and 2000s, with the first hour being dedicated to the first hour of MTV ever aired.

Which, if you ask me, is awesome! Not only does this mean viewers will get a chance to watch a bunch of Beavis and Butthead, and, hopefully, The Maxx and The Head, but it also means we get to relive the hilarious and cringe-worthy metal and hard rock videos of Headbangers Ball and The Rock Show. Nothing like seeing the cast of I Know What You Did Last Summer talk to the members of Powerman 5000 to make you laugh your ass off and thank the powers that be that you survived such a hideous era.

So goodbye, Vh1 Classic, thanks for the memories. Hello, MTV Classic, try not to just run nonstop Real World and Laguna Beach episodes.
