Cinemetal Premiere: Watch 90 Minutes of Doom Metallers Kauan Crushing Kiev Live

0

Last year, Vince was enamored by the new album from Russian/Ukranian doom crew Kauan, which detailed a mysterious incident in which nine hikers were mysteriously killed. And for good reason — the album, Sorni Nai, is a creepy and beautiful doom metal journey, taking the listener both through a blizzard-swept and into the heart of someone trapped in the unending cold. This band does what it does incredibly well.

Now, we’re pleased to premiere this video of Kauan performing live at the MonteRay Live Stage in Kiev, Ukraine. Beautifully shot and recorded, the film shows the band playing two of their albums in their entirety, Sorni Nai and 2013’s Pirut, each album comprised of a single sprawling track.

According to frontman Anton Belov, the video was shot with ten different cameras, and showcases the band’s first time playing Sorni Nai live. The audio was recorded with an analog multi-track console, mixed in a professional studio, and then summarized on an old tape recorder. They only plan to perform the album ten times, making this show #2.

Watch Kauan bring down the house below. Sorni Nai is available now via Blood Music. Order it here.

Thanks to Wyatt for the hook-up and Anton for all the help.
