Khemmis Blind Nonbelievers with “Candlelight”

I list Denver’s Khemmis as one of the best doom bands, if not metal bands, on the scene today, and anyone who’s seen them live — Vince included — will be inclined to agree with me. Last year’s Absolution was an incredible eruption of stoner rock, and this year’s upcoming new album, Hunted, looks to match it in intensity and power (that Sam Turner cover is no fucking joke, either).

But if you need further convincing, check out “Candlelight,” the new single from Hunted. The song not only showcases the band’s trademark catchy riffs and ecclesiastical singing, but also adds elements like murky death metal snarls and moments of eerie stillness. It definitely shows some hints towards where Khemmis is going, even though, rest assured, it still sounds like the music played at a ritual involving blood and narcotic incense performed on a stone head around the time the wheel was discovered.

Listen to “Candlelight” below. Hunted drops October 21st via 20 Buck Spin (God DAMN, look at that cover). You can pre-order it here.
