Prophets of Rage to Release EP Consisting of One Original Song and Some Covers

0

Are you extremely titillated by the very idea of Prophets of Rage, the new group featuring the instrumental 3/4ths of Rage Against the Machine plus Public Enemy’s Chuck D and Cypress Hill’s B-Real on vocals?

Though the band’s been touring extensively, including playing some high-profile political protests, until now you had to see them live to experience their music (mostly covers of Rage, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill). But soon you’ll be able to own some of their recorded output!

Those hoping for a full record of originals will have to wait; the EP, titled The Party’s Over, will consist of only one original song — the title track, which they’ve been playing live — plus a studio cover of Public Enemy’s “Prophets of Rage” (with a new verse by B-Real), and then one live cover each of Rage, Public Enemy and The Beastie Boys. Here’s the tracklisting, via Metal Injection:

1. “Prophets of Rage”
2. “The Party’s Over”
3. “Killing in the Name” (live)
4. “Shut Em Down” (live)
5. “No Sleep Til Cleveland” (live)

I’m most interested in hearing what kind of new material this band will come up with, but I guess this serves as a fine stop-gap while they finish up touring and get down to business (hopefully) in early 2017.

The Party’s Over comes out on August 26th. More info at the band’s official site.
