Sunday To Go Psycho

In Vegas there is no time — only the moment.

All the pulsating lights, whirring machines, raucous groups of whoevers — it’s strangely zen in a way. If every instant is overflowing with stimuli, what chance does your pea-brain have to actually wander and re-examine your place in the universe?

Add an expertly-curated psych/stoner/rock/metal music festival into the mix and the experience becomes so much more immediate and surreal. Top-notch promotion team Thief made a bold move in organizing The Most Ridiculous Lineup Of All Time in The Dumbest Place On Earth, and overall the Psycho Vegas fest has been pretty phenomenonal. So many amazing music options, staggered across three stages just enough to not have to make those painful choices of what acts to sacrifice…

There’s no way to quantify the insanity of Las Vegas, so why the hell not add a gazillion tattoo’d rockers and a boatload more madness to it?

This mysterious festival may continue its Sin City reign or move onto a different unsuspecting city next year, but those of us who experienced this will never forget the random anecdotal exchanges or glorious reunions with folks long unseen… although the surplus of whiskey and weed in everyone’s systems may render the memories a bit hazy.

Here’s a sampling of the bands I had the pleasure of rocking with at the festival:
