Listen to the New Octavision Song “Three Lives” (Progressive Metal feat. Victor Wooten)

0

You guys were VERY excited to learn about Octavision, the new progressive metal project featuring bass God Victor Wooten, when we told you about its existence earlier this week.

But: psych! Wooten isn’t the mastermind after all. It’s guitarist Hovak Alaverdyan, who is also a producer, that’s running the show. He certainly knows where his bread is buttered (Wooten is pictured first in the band’s Facebook header image) but he recently took some time to introduce himself to the world via the band’s Facebook:

My name is Hovak, I am the guitarist, founder and primary composer of Octavision. Octavision is a project that brings together many different influences, elements, and styles of music from around the world into one band. I am extremely honored to be part of a band wherein my bandmates are amongst some of the best musicians in the world. Working with them has been a very rewarding experience. They each bring their own unique individual performance style and virtuosity to the group.

He also reveals that the band’s first song, “Three Lives,” won’t be a one-off; he promises “more songs and releases to follow.”

For now, get stoked on “Three Lives,” which you can check out below along with a nifty playthrough video. The whole thing sounds very Dream Theater-y to me, but with a bit more of a jazz-fusion bent, which I gather is a big turn-on to most of the people reading this. Enjoy!
