Whomever says that death metal is for dummies should be made aware of Dischordia’s new album, Thanatopsis, which takes its name from a metal-as-fuck 19th century Bryant poem that implores the reader to “approach thy grave/ Like one who wraps the drapery of his couch/ About him, and lies down to pleasant dreams.” They’ll probably still hate the music, but at least they’ll recognize that these guys can read something besides Mad

Everyone who already knows death metal isn’t just dummies: you’ll appreciate Dischordia even more. On their new single, “The Ruin,” the band’s almost mathcore-esque approach to DM creates a sputtering, evil engine that ably represents what Bryant called the “chamber in the silent halls of death.” Well, except for the silent part, natch.

And as bonus, it features a guest appearance by Black Crown Initiate vocalist James Dorton!
