Asking Alexandria Guitarist Pays Back Fan Who Got Stiffed by Former Vocalist Denis Stoff

As the guitarist for Asking Alexandria, Ben Bruce has written hours and hours of terrible music. But in terms of karma, this probably redeems him.

According to a new interview with our buddy Brian Storm at Rock Feed (who also made the wonderful graphic at the top of this post), Bruce recently paid an Asking Alexandria fan named Maxime Solemn $500. The reason? Although you might guess the money was a fee for Solemn allowing himself to be referred to as “an Asking Alexandria fan” in public, it was actually a refund of sorts. Seems that Denis Stoff, Asking Alexandria’s now-former vocalist, had accepted a fee in that amount to make a guest appearance on Solemn’s album… and then ghosted Solemn.

This isn’t the first time Stoff has been accused of disappearing on people: according to the remaining members of Asking Alexandria, the whole reason the frontman is no longer in the band is because “He just stopped talking to us” after the band’s most recent break.

Bruce was obviously under no obligation to pay Solemn back the money — he had nothing to do with the original arrangement, after all — so the fact that he did so is super menschy. Still, the story illustrates an important moral, which is that you should never, ever, under any circumstances, ask a member of Asking Alexandria to perform on your album.

Below, watch Solemn’s initial video complaint, as well as Rock Feed’s interview with Bruce.
