GWAR are inarguably the all-stars of The AV Club’s “Undercover” series, on which artists are asked to cover someone else’s song with no prior notice. In the past, this has resulted in some hilarious GWARifications of Kansas, Billy Ocean, The Petshop Boys, and Cyndi Lauper; for the Scumdogs’ latest visit to the program, they took on AC/DC’s “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It).” A less incongruous song selection than they’ve made in the past, sure, but still a good one — I sincerely did not realize that GWAR vocalist Blöthar has such pipes, and I’m betting a lot of other fans haven’t, either (keep in mind, the group has yet to release an album with Mr. Thar).

As a special Election Day bonus, the band also transformed the subtext of this whole election into explicit action via guest appearances by “Hillary Clinton” and “Donald Trump.” Hey, without a ton of live violence, how would you know this is really GWAR?

Additionally, GWAR have announced a special release for Record Store Day, which sounds like it’s gonna be a must-own for Oderus fans (in other words, everyone). Details are available via the below press release.

“[On] Record Store Day (11/25/17) AKA Black Friday, GWAR will release a limited edition picture disc called “Black Friday” featuring their covers of Billy Ocean’s ‘Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car’ and ‘West End Girls’ from The Pet Shop Boys.’Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car’ will be on Side A (Oderus).  This was Dave Brockie AKA Oderus Urungus’ final recording with GWAR.  Side B (Blöthar) ‘West End Girls’ was the first recording by GWAR featuring new singer Blöthar.”
