Mutiny Within Release First New Song in Four Years

Mutiny Within - OriginsMutiny Within arrived just a tad too late to capitalize on the NWOAHM wave, their combo of Swedish-style riffing, melody and hardcore vocals, by then stigmatized as “metalcore,” seen as slightly passé. But hot damn, they were a good band: their 2010 self-titled debut, released on Roadrunner, was chock full of excellent musicianship and stellar songwriting and landed on my year-end list.

After calling it quits in 2011 and being dropped by Roadrunner, the band got back together to release Synchronicity independently in 2013, their new incarnation basically a bedroom project that linked the members via the magic of the internet. And now they’re following the same model nearly four years later: on February 10th they’ll release Origins, once again on their own.

Today Mutiny Within have shared with us the first single from that album, “Archetype of Destruction.” If you were ever a fan of this band — or if you enjoy Children of Bodom and/or Killswitch Engage — it’s a sure thing you’ll like the new track. Musically speaking all the elements we’ve come to expect from Mutiny Within are still present, and Chris Clancy’s powerful voice reigns victorious above it all.

Check out “Archetype of Destruction” below and pre-order Origins here.
