Morbid Angel: Trey Azagthoth’s Mommy Slams David Vincent

  • Axl Rosenberg

Last week, former Morbid Angel members David Vincent and Tim Yeung announced the formation of what is ostensibly a Morbid Angel cover band, I Am Morbid.

Now, Morbid Angel guitarist Trey Azagthoth’s mommy, Janell Emmanuel, has gone to the principal’s office taken to Facebook to stand up for her baby and shame Vincent for being a meanie:

It’s tempting to make fun of Janell Emmanuel for fighting her son’s battles for him while asserting that David Vincent is “not very professional.” Also, for criticizing Vincent for exclusively releasing Spanish-language posters for I Am Morbid’s tour of Spain. Also, for championing the English language while simultaneously butchering the English language. Also, for having a name that rhymes.

But it’s important to remember that I Am Morbid is also really, really lame.

Still, it’s hard not to notice that with each passing year, Morbid Angel becomes less of a death metal band and more of a clown troupe. Illud Divinum Insanus. Vincent somehow being unaware that he’s been fired from the band (again). I Am Morbid. Janell Emmanuel gives ’em hell for a spell. The question used to be, “How will Morbid Angel top their last album?” Now it’s, “How will Morbid Angel top their next comedy routine?” If David Vincent’s mom fires back, I say we call it and just give the band a Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. They will surely have earned it.

Thanks: R.C.
