Open Auditions: YOU Can be the Next Host(s) of The MetalSucks Podcast!

0

Hidden within 2016’s final episode of The MetalSucks Podcast — in which Chuck and Godless discuss their favorite albums of the year and interview Astronoid’s Brett Boland — was the following very, very sad news: our faithful hosts are moving on! You can look for them to make an announcement about what their future holds soon on their official website. We thank them both for their TIRELESS work ethic and the top-quality podcast they’ve turned in consistently over the course of more than three years and 173 episodes.

Fear not: the MetalSucks Podcast will live on! And, just as we did last time, we’re turning to you, our readers, to find the next host or hosts. Do you think you’ve got what it takes to fly the MetalSucks flag? Are you good on your feet while interviewing famous metal artists? Do you have the audio and editing skills necessary to put together a quality product? Are you capable of turning in an episode each and every week without fail?

We’re holding an open audition process, and this is how it’s going to work. All interested candidates should do the following:

  1. Record a spec MetalSucks podcast roughly 10 minutes in length. The clip should include a spoken intro, a monologue (or conversation if there is more than one of you) in which you recap a recent news item on MetalSucks and share your opinion on it, a spoken intro to a song (you only need to include 15 seconds of the actual song) and a spoken outro closing down the podcast. Remember, this is MetalSucks, not Boring Metalheads Anonymous, so don’t be afraid to inject some of your personality into everything.
  2. Upload your spec podcast to Soundcloud.
  3. Send an email to news[at]metalsucks.net with PODCAST as the subject. Tell us a little bit about yourself and why you’d like the job, and include the above Soundcloud link. You do not need to attach a resume, although if you have experience with online audio or radio (i.e. you’re a college radio station DJ or you have an existing podcast) you should probably tell us about that in your email.

This is a paid position. You will be working remotely from wherever you live — not at the MS Mansion in New York — so location is not a factor. You MUST be able to turn in a COMPLETELY finished podcast roughly 48 weeks a year, so if you don’t have several hours per week to devote to something like this do not bother applying. We will discuss compensation with qualified candidates once we have had a chance to review all submissions. Deadline for submissions is Sunday, January 8th, 2017 at 11:59pm EST.

Good luck!
