Hello MetalSucks reader! Welcome to Shit That Comes Out Today, your Satanic bible of this week’s heavy new releases. We list ‘em, we spotlight ‘em, we link you to their preview jams and full streams all for your jammage. Now crank this shit up!

·

sepultura-machine-messiahSepultura
Machine Messiah (Nuclear Blast)
On a playlist with: Puya, Atheist, Killswitch Engage
Listen “Phantom Self” (here) “I Am The Enemy” (here)

You may enjoy none of Max Cavalera’s post-Sepultura albums, that’s a personal preference. And you may rarely listen to post-Max Sepultura albums, that’s because they’re weirdly hard to love despite their quality. Against is awesome, and the other half-dozen are good or great, but you can perceive a faint stink from all the turds smeared on New Sepultura by Cavalera. But we love that Sepultura marches on, and unlike Cavalera and his slightly less sanctimonious brother, they rip more than they lip.

Black AnvilBlack Anvil
As Was (Relapse)
On a playlist with: Tribulation, The Crown, YAITW
Listen Album Title full stream (here)

It’s hard to resist giving some time to Black Anvil. After all, one tends to pay attention to the band on tour with Mayhem and fucking Inquisition, to a band who authors a song in tribute to Selim Lemouchi of The Devil’s Blood then holds it back, to a band with a Russia-sized cache of awesome vocals. Cancel your plans this weekend, there’s four more new releases below just as mandatory. Sorry in advance about all the exclamation points!!!!!!!

·

lo-panLo-Pan
In Tensions (Aqualamb)
On a playlist with: Clutch, Pearl Jam, Torche
Listen “Go West” (here) “Pathfinder” (here)

I’m incredibly enthusiastic about Lo-Pan thanks to their ace singer and perfect melodies. And though their 2014 album Colossus was one of the year’s best, maybe you haven’t gotten around to something so quietly awesome and unsexy. That’s normal. But here in 2017, Lo-Pan is back with an EP with at least two mindblowing jams, and that’s easy to find time for. Crank it up!!!!!

·

the-dripThe Drip
The Haunting Fear Of Inevitability (Relapse)
On a playlist with: Pig Destroyer, Antigama, Napalm Death
Listen The Haunting Fear Of Inevitability full stream (here)

Ah, another band that we at MetalSucks shrieked about in 2014 — The Drip, whose EP appeared in our pages accompanied by the words “overwhelming, quicker than the senses, and stimulating of your every nerve.” And even if their new album were 13 more rippers, we’d be thrilled. But it’s more than that! Must jam!!

·

draugsolDraugsól
Volaða Land (Signal Rex)
On a playlist with: Naðra, Misþyrming, Sólstafir
Listen Volaða Land full stream (here)

Draugsól knows how to make an entrance: Volaða Land‘s first two minutes portray a band whose players are on the same page only to the extent that each possesses a different shred of that page. Then there’s an almost literal snap as all sounds congeal and begin a furious forward motion. And that’s just the first awesome moment, there are two more even before the arrival of a guitar solo passage for the ages. This album earns a huge audience, join it today.

·

shaarimothShaarimoth
Temple Of The Adversarial Fire (W.T.C.)
On a playlist with: Akhlys, Behemoth, Testament
Listen Temple Of The Adversarial Fire full stream (here)

So by this point in today’s STCOT, you’ve encountered at least three albums destined for your list of 2017’s best albums, so it’s brave of you to read this last capsule and risk another few hours of your life disappearing into the blank space between consciousness and the explosion in your mind that results from albums like Shaarimoth’s Temple Of The Adversarial Fire. But here you are, stuck, I’ll call your girl and tell them you’re behind schedule. Actually I’ll tell her in person :)
