Eighteen Visions are Reuniting

0

A lot has happened since OC metalcore pioneers Eighteen Visions broke up in 2007. Vocalist James Hart launched Burn Halo, a more hard rock-oriented band that never quite took off. Guitarist Keith Barney and drummer Trevor Friedrich formed an outfit called Never Enough. Bassist Mick “Mickdeath” Morris passed away. The band’s friends in Atreyu ascended to stardom and then fell back to earth, while their friends in Avenged Sevenfold ascended to stardom and stayed there. Meanwhile, every other band under the sun ripped them off.

So perhaps the remaining core members — Hart, Barney and Friedrich — felt that the time was finally right to give it another go. It has been TEN years, after all.

Or perhaps whatever the band was teasing via Instagram last night is just a one-off, something to get the boys back together for fun.

It’s now been long enough since the whole metalcore thing started cranking in the late ’90s (before metalcore became a bad word that meant good cop / bad cop vocals and cheesy crab crouches) that maybe, weirdly, the genre is ripe for a nostalgic comeback?

Whatever it is, something’s brewing:
