Mudvayne Bassist Ryan Martinie’s Jazz Fusion Band Soften the Glare: New Song “March Of The Cephalopods”

0

Last year we got word that Mudvayne bassist Ryan Martinie was involved with a new group called Soften the Glare, a jazz fusion group with some elements of prog and metal thrown in. The two songs we heard at the time ripped pretty hard! Unsurprising coming from arguably the sole talented member of Mudvayne. Gong/Gongzilla guitarist Bon Lozaga and drummer Mitch Hull round out the trio.

Now Metal Injection has premiered a new Soften the Glare song called “March of the Cephalopods” and it’s just as good as the earlier material we heard, funky, jazzy, bouncy, proggy and, yes, heavy. If you’re into metal-friendly jazz fusion acts like Trioscapes, T.R.A.M. and Nova Collective, you’re gonna be all over this.

Soften the Glare will release Making Faces in April; pre-order it here.
