In the sweet, fertile nexus of death, black, groove and sludge lies Earth Rot, currently readying the release of their sophomore album Renascentia, which comes out next week and we’re premiering to the world today.

While you may not have heard of Earth Rot before, their punishing combination of metal sub-genres is at once familiar and completely fresh. Earth Rot are more technical than your average black metal band and more grim than your typical death metal troupe, and yet there’s something else, too: an almost Goatwhore-ian sense of groove and sludge that elevates the band to the next level and sets them apart from their peers. We think you’ll dig it a whole lot.
