WSOU Picks of the Week: Darkest Hour, Battle Beast

0

Seton Hall University’s WSOU radio is the only all-metal, all-the-time station currently broadcasting in the US, and as been a force in metal for DECADES. It’s also streamable online from anywhere in the world! Each week, the staff of WSOU shares their picks for the heaviest of the heavy, as well as the station’s charts for that week, right here on MetalSucks. Enjoy:

Darkest Hour – “This Is The Truth” (Mike C.)

Who would have thought that 21 years in, Darkest Hour would write one of the best albums of their career? Raw and in-your-face, Godless Prophets & The Migrant Flora doesn’t let up at all from start to finish. A lot of the tracks are real earworms, too. This week, WSOU is playing a song from the album at the top of every hour along with commentary from guitarist Mike Schleibaum. Check out “This Is The Truth,” the record’s second track.

Battle Beast – “Lost In Wars (feat. Tomi Joutsen)” (Dylan G.)

Battle Beast’s latest material takes their usual power metal sound and adds a bit more than a dash of ’80s synthpop. Lost In Wars is an outlier on the album, sporting Amorphis’ Tomi Joutsen and the keyboards shoved back in the corner.
