Watch: Trivium’s Matt Heafy Yarls His Way through an Elvis Presley Song

Was Elvis Presley the original yarler? Long before Layne Staley, Eddie Vedder, Scott Stapp and the like perfected the art, it could be argued, Presley was the true pioneer.

Trivium frontman Matt Heafy has taken a crack at yarling in the latest in his series of acoustic covers, a rendition of the Elvis classic “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” And the vocal style actually suits him quite well! Could we see a drastic stylistic change on the next Trivium record? I say go for it, seeing as it worked out real well for Suicide Silence.
