Periphery’s Misha Mansoor and His Brother Wrote a Song Together

0

Periphery aren’t up to much as a band right now, but those guys never stop working. I caught guitarist Jake Bowen perform his electronic solo material live last month and it was FANTASTIC. If you follow Misha Mansoor’s socials, you know he’s always writing, tinkering, experimenting. Nolly is surely twiddling knobs behind a board, Matt Halpern is likely busy designing a new custom line of V-necks, Mark Holcomb got lost inside a baseball stadium and never came back, and Spencer is probably just sitting somewhere sunny being gorgeous.

But back to Misha for a moment: he just posted a new song called “Far Too High” that he wrote together with his brother Axel, who sings on the tune. The Mansoor brothers have collaborated on publicly released works in the past, but this is the most developed and finished track I’ve heard from the duo. And it’s great! It’s a chilled out mix of rock and electronic elements, but it’s a far cry from Periphery… and, really, isn’t that the best? I love it when side projects sound nothing like the “day job” bands for which musicians are best known.

Check it out below. No word on whether there will be more like this, but I sure hope so.
