Video: James Hetfield Rocking Out and Playing Air Drums to Ghost

Metallica just wrapped up a couple of Canadian dates of their WorldWired stadium tour, bringing their mind-bogglingly massive stage show to Montreal this past Friday and Toronto on Sunday. With a day off in between and the band already having arrived in Toronto, the lovable, huggable Papa Het decided to soak in some tunes at the Iron Maiden and Ghost show in town that night.

We don’t know whether Hetfield went to watch Maiden, specifically to catch Ghost or just for the hang, but we do know this: he loved the fuck out of some Ghost! We’ve been aware for some time that the guys in Metallica are fans of the band: Ghost were invited to play the Orion Music Fest in 2012, and one of the Nameless Ghouls described an awkward but funny encounter with Hetfield even before that. Still: when Tobias Forge catches wind of this video he’ll probably freak out just like any of us would if we saw perhaps the single most famous person in metal PLAYING AIR DRUMS to a tune he wrote. And it’s fun for the rest of us to watch, too.
