Tool’s “Schism” in a Major Key: Weird!

Remember a few years back, when some took Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” and digitally reworked it to be in a major key? Well, now Nick Proch has done something similar with Tool’s “Schism.” Proch, you may recall, also did an orchestral arrangement of “Schism” last year… I guess it’s his favorite Tool song.

ANYWAY, yeah, this sounds totally bizarre. I actually really like the “Nothing Else Majors” reworking, but this just makes me feel like I rolled through a patch of poison ivy for some reason. I think it’s the disconnect between how bright the music sounds and how depressing Maynard’s lyrics are. I dunno, I’ll bring it up in therapy.
