Metallica To Remaster and Re-Release Master Of Puppets Sometime This Year?

0

In an interview with Voir last month, Metallica drummer Sir Lars Ulrich (every time I write that I have to make sure I’m not thinking of Sir Ulrich von Lichtenstein) was asked about revisiting the legendary Master of Puppets (after remastering Kill ‘Em All and Ride The Lightning), and here’s his answer:

“It should be coming maybe later… We’ll try to see if we can get it out at the end of this year. It’s coming soon. We’re working on it. There’s a lot of stuff associated with Master Of Puppets; that’s a big project. And we’ve spent so much time looking forward, with Hardwired and so on, but Master Of Puppets is obviously next. You can confirm that! Lars Ulrich confirms Master Of Puppets is next, [it will be out] hopefully late this year. If not, soon thereafter.”

Awesome! I’m excited to hear it. Master of Puppets is one of my favorite albums, but it definitely needs the same treatment as the last two remastered editions.

In the same interview Lars also mentions the possibility of a third installment in the Garage covers series, and man do I love covers. You can watch the full interview on Voir’s website. I’m also excited for the possibility of remastering …And Justice For All, hopefully with at least a little bass this time around.

Metallica’s North American tour is about to come to a close with only Vancouver, B.C. and Edmonton, Alberta left after tonight’s show in Seattle. They will quickly be picking up the pace however, kicking off a European tour with Kvelertak in September; dates can be found here.
