Dyscarnate May Have Just Released THE Death Metal Record of 2017

0

One of the great pleasures of attending shows is learning about and experiencing bands with whom you were previously unfamiliar. It even still happens to old, jaded asshole metal bloggers like us! Isn’t it the best? You feel as if you’ve discovered something no one else knows about.

So it is with UK death metallers Dyscarnate, who are on the MetalSucks-sponsored Bloodletting North America Tour this fall (also featuring Origin, Archspire, Defeated Sanity, Visceral Disgorge and The Kennedy Veil). I was previously familiar with Dyscarnate in name only, so imagine my surprise when I went to check out their new album With All Their Might… and like whoa. This band fucking riiiiiips!

Domination-era Morbid Angel, fellow U.K. death metal troup Mithras and metal powerhouses Gojira are the obvious touchstones here, but Dyscarnate put a modern technical death metal spin on that sound that I haven’t heard done before. Which isn’t to say Dyscarnate are over-the-top technical — they’re not, by any means — but the production style and general approach are a bit more in line with, say, Rivers of Nihil or Black Crown Initiate than Gojira. It’s punishing death metal, fast, hard and relenting but with an artfulness that’s just muah!

With All Their Might came out last Friday, September 15th via Unique Leader. Grab it here (digital) and here (physical) and stream it below. Bloodletting tour dates underneath the embed.
