Tool/Mastodon Supergroup Legend of the Seagullmen: Full Lineup Revealed

While Tool drummer Danny Carey and Mastodon guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds are always going to grab the headlines when it comes to their collaborative project Legend of the Seagullmen — who announced last week they’d make their live debut opening for Primus on New Year’s Eve — there are some other very talented people in the band as well. Who’d’ve thunk it!

Conspicuously absent from the list is Dimitri Coats of OFF!/Burning Brides, who was initially linked to the group when word of its existence first surfaced in 2015. Guitarist Jimmy Hayward is indeed the guy we thought he is — mostly known for his work as an animator and film director — and it’s always good to see our talented friend Pete Griffin, who always seems to pop up as bassist whenever the word “supergroup” is mentioned. Here’s the full lineup via The PRP:

Vocals: David “Dr Dreyer” Dreyer
Guitars/vocals: Jimmy Hayward (musician/director)
Guitars: Brent Hinds (Mastodon, etc.)
Guitars: Tim Dawson
Bass: Pete Griffin (Giraffe Tongue Orchestra, etc.)
Drums: Danny Carey (Tool, etc.)
Synth: Chris Digiovanni

Half of these cats are new to me, but if they can hang with Carey and Hinds they’re certainly no slouches. Those lucky enough to be able to attend the NYE gig are surely in for a treat.

You can check out a couple of Legend of the Seagullmen songs released in 2015 below, although we’re not certain whether all the musicians above played on these tracks or not.
