Wrekmeister Harmonies Announce New Album; Listen to the First Single Here

0

Experimental collective Wrekmeister Harmonies are back with a new single titled “Covered In Blood From Invisible Wounds,” from their upcoming album The Alone Rush.

Wasting little time with this, their fifth release this decade, the JR Robinson-led project remains ethereally true to form, with mournful string and percussion compositions layered delicately under low-register vocals reminiscent of Nick Cave or Leonard Cohen on one of their sadder bends. While the group’s 2016 release Light Falls (one of my favorite that year) had a distinctly metal edge, I’m hearing a lean into the murder ballad side of things with this track. Having not heard the full album, I can’t predict if we’re to expect more heaviness or settle into this more funeral feel but one thing is true: it will be rich, tinged with eeriness, and beautifully crafted in true Wrekmeister form.

Stream the track below. Alone Rush comes out April 13 on Thrill Jockey; pre-order it here. Keep up Wrekmeister Harmonies’ tour dates here.
