This Night Verses EP is Hella Impressive

Night Verses - Copper WaspI wasn’t previously familiar with Night Verses, a progressive instrumental three piece from Los Angeles, but hooooo boy, if their new EP Copper Wasp is any indication, this band has a bright, bright future ahead of them.

Imagine if Animals as Leaders had stuck with the sound on their breakthrough debut album instead of venturing further into jazz territory and you’re close. Thankfully there really isn’t any djent here but the lead guitar work is vaguely AAL-like, with melody construction and rhythms similar to Russian Circles. So, there you have it: Animals as Leaders + Russian Circles = Night Verses. With a bit of their own flair, too, of course. The venerable Will Putney produced this thing, so naturally it’s sonically fantastic.

The songs on Copper Wasp will be part of a full-length album released later this year through Equal Vision / Graphic Nature Records, the band’s second.

Night Verses are on tour with Intervals (because OF COURSE they’re on tour with Intervals), Jason Richardson and Nick Johnston right now. Remaining dates below the player.
