Here’s Your First Taste of New Fallujah Music

0

The universe is full of synchronicity. So it’s only fitting that on the day Rivers of Nihil release their genre-bending, career-defining new album Where Owls Know My Name (stream here) their peers and fellow death metal envelope-pushers in Fallujah release an itty bitty tease of new music and an announcement that a new album is on the way.

The tease comes via an Instagram video that shows the band hard at work in the studio, with the caption “IV” (presumably meaning album number four) and some atmospheric noise playing, possibly an interlude or background tracks from the album (or just some noise to throw us off the scent, who knows). This will be the band’s first release without departed vocalist Alex Hofmann, with new mic-wrangler Monte Barnard taking his place.

I’ve yet to meet a Fallujah album I didn’t like. The Flesh Prevails (2014) stands out as my favorite, but their most recent, Dreamless (2016), is no slouch either. Will the band stay the course or will they continue evolving and take it to a new level this time around? I always hope for the latter where my favorite bands are concerned.

Stay tuned for more info: an announcement from Nuclear Blast is surely imminent.
