Listen to Light This City’s First New Song in Ten Years

For those of you who don’t remember Light This City (I’m guessing there are a lot of you), they were a NWOAHM/metalcore band that never quite caught on. Mostly, what I remember about them is that Dallas Coyle from God Forbid really liked them. In any case, they released four albums, concluding with 2008’s lackluster Stormchaser, before breaking up.

But now they’re back together because sooner or later every band gets back together (can’t wait for the A Dozen Furies reunion), they’re getting ready to release a new album called Terminal Bloom, and they’ve premiered the first single from that album, “A Grotesque Reflection.”

And y’know what? It’s not half bad. I mean, it sounds like it’s from 2006 and it’s probably not going to change your life, but it’s catchy. If you appreciate this At the Gates-ian approach to metal, you might dig it. I enjoyed it enough that I almost wanna revisit and reevaluate the band’s old albums. Almost.

Check out “A Grotesque Reflection” below. Terminal Bloom comes out May 25 through drummer Ben Murray’s Creator-Destructor Records; find preorders at the label webstore here and Bandcamp here.
