Exclusive Track Premiere: A Film in Color’s “A Hollow Monument”
Full disclosure: if you came to New Jersey’s A Film in Color looking to circle pit, you’re gonna be disappointed. The instrumental trio is not, and wouldn’t claim to be, the world’s br00tlest band… at least, not in the sense we usually use such phrases.
One could certainly argue that the group offers up a certain emotional brutality, though! On their debut full-length, They March in Endless Circles, the band provides a series of aching, hypnotic soundscapes, consisting of simple, gorgeously melancholic melodies that gradually build on top of each other until the weight is almost too much to bear. In other words, A Film in Color just might tear your heart out… it just won’t go about it the same way as a band like Obituary or Nasum. But if you dig shoegaze-tinged instrumental music in the vein of This Will Destroy You as much as we do, well… you are going to LOVE this.
