Descend to the Center of the Earth with Existem

Oh boy, oh boy. Every day we get closer to this monster of an album from Existem dropping and today we get the second and final single. So just in case your balls weren’t blue enough from “Remembrance,” then we’ve got more cock teasing for uhhh…. your ears. Mantle is a concept album about a man who has a dream of falling to the center of the Earth where he meets Gaia, who turns him into a prophet to usher in a new age of harmonious life. “Descent” is the first track on the album (other than the intro of course), and in case you couldn’t tell, it’s the part of the story where he actually falls into the center of the Earth.

As far as “Descent” goes, it’s a wonderful intro track. It’s not all upfront and aggressive, but rather starts off slower with clean vocals and then builds up until the screams and heavy rips drop a little over halfway through. Having heard this album countless times through already, “Descent” opens the flood gates to paint the picture that the rest of the album offers, rather than just blowing everything out of the water from the start. You’ll have to wait until the album drops to hear it, but once “Descent” is over, it gives way to a track called “Graves” which has one of the juiciest and most delicious riffs I’ve ever heard.

Don’t sleep on Existem, because Mantle is easily one of the best albums of the year. This band has an incredibly bright future ahead of them and you’ll get burned if you’re not a part of it. Mantle drops July 20 and you can purchase it from their Bandcamp when it hits.
