Stream Plini’s Funktastic Sunhead In Full Right Meow!

Plini has an unmistakable savvy for writing music that shows off his guitar prowess AND is actually engaging and fun to listen to — in fact, I’d say his songwriting abilities often shine even brighter than his exceptionally tight playing. His newest EP, Sunhead, is a testament to his capacity as a multi-genre instrumentalist and composer — rather than going along with the stale trends of instrumental prog, Plini has made sure that every single track on the album is a fucking JAM.

If you haven’t listened to Sunhead yet, go make that your top priority. It’s only 20 minutes long and is an incredibly well executed fusion of metal and jazzy, funky vibes. Some may say that it deserves to be a full length, but for those of us with wavering attention spans, it’s a perfectly compact release. Sunhead is fucking dense, with Plini tastefully cramming about as many ideas as he could into four songs. “[The EP is] an evolution of my sound based on stuff that’s happened in my life,” he commented. “This EP has got some weirder time signatures and more complicated harmonies, but I think it still sounds pretty pleasant.”

”Pretty pleasant,” indeed. Sunhead wouldn’t be what it is without the signature Plini positivity. Every song glitters with happy, good energy so you can’t help but groove out with a dorky smile on your face. Turn that frown upside down and stream the Sunhead playlist below, buy it here, and check out the massive list of Plini’s upcoming tour dates (none in North America, sadly) underneath the embed.
