Soen Have a New Album On The Way; Stream Progtastic First Single “Rival”

0

Google is a liar sometimes (unfathomable, right?). While searching for background info on Soen so as not to come off as an uncultured poser, Google thoughtfully suggested some similar artists, the first of which was Infernal Coil, one of my favorites as of late.

Now, I’ve made a lot of garbage comparisons in my time with MetalSucks, but this is just… a whole new level of repugnant. It’s like suggesting that someone stick their arm in a meat grinder if their usual hobbies include introspection and poetry. Jesus, Google.

Anyways. Soen have a new album on the way. If you’re one of the quiet types I just mentioned, you’ll dig it, and if you’re not, you’ll probably dig it anyway. The Swedish proggers have been cranking out consistently solid releases since the dawn of time, and Lotus is sure to be no exception. The first single “Rival” is available to stream below — it’s a groove-driven Opeth-ian jam (not surprising, since the supergroup features former Opeth drummer Martin Lopez) that’s easy to get lost in once you’re there. Also, that guitar tone is pure sex. Mmmmmpphh.

Stream “Rival” below, and stay tuned for the release of Lotus on February 1st of next year (pre-order here). There’s some European tour dates coming up next spring as well, so be sure to check those out if you’re across the pond.
