Corey Taylor Thinks He’s Playing a Solo Show

Bands? He don’t need no stinkin’ bands!

Corey Taylor, who is currently in the studio recording Slipknot’s next record, will be playing a one-off solo show in Los Angeles next month. The show will go down on February 20th at The Roxy and is being billed as “Corey Taylor and Friends,” which presumably means there will be a number of special guests performing with him. Cherry Bombs, which includes Corey’s partner Alicia Dove, will open the show.

Corey’s done solo tours in the past (check YouTube) so the idea isn’t surprising, but the timing is: why now? Wonder if he’s got some special announcement up his sleeve, or perhaps is just getting antsy and needs to get back on stage for a night. If I’m not mistaken one of his past solo tours was designed to promote one of his books, so perhaps he’s planning to announce another… but that’s my best guess, and it’s pure conjecture. Either way, if you live in L.A. you won’t want to miss this… as we all know, Corey is a special fella and one helluva performer in any medium.
