Reunited Vio-lence Add Two New York City Shows

With Phil Demmel out of Machine Head as of last fall after 16 years in the band, he’ll be reuniting with his old bandmates in Vio-lence this coming Saturday, April 13 at the Oakland Metro in Oakland, CA. While initially announced as a one-off, the band later added a second show on May 31st at the Regent Theater in Los Angeles with Sacred Reich, who now feature Demmel’s fellow ex-Machine Head bandmate, Dave McClain, on drums.

The above two shows proved to be in such demand that the reunited lineup — which features four of the five men who performed on the band’s 1988 classic Eternal Nightmare — has announced they’ll be bringing the party to the East Coast, where they’ve booked two nights at Brooklyn Bazaar on November 8th and 9th. While a two-night stint might seem like a bold flex, I have to imagine the band and their people know what they’re doing after already putting up two West Coast shows for sale. As such I think tickets are gonna go fast, so I’d recommend getting yours now. The venue’s website says it holds 900 people standing, but having been to several shows there that doesn’t seem right to me — maybe half that.

Demmel and McClain’s former boss Robb Flynn, meanwhile, is keeping busy with a reunion of his own: the Burn My Eyes-era lineup of Machine Head performing that album in full on tour.

Demmel also filled in for Gary Holt in Slayer at five shows in Europe this fall after Holt flew home to be with his sick father.
