Power Metal is Good, Power Metal is Great: Gloryhammer Wrote a Song About a Literal Glorious Hammer

0

Gloryhammer have just released a song called “Gloryhammer.” Usually when a band titles a song or album after themselves it signifies super serious business, a grand artistic statement of definitive intent.

But this song is literally about a glorious, very powerful hammer. More than five minutes of it, complete with expensive-looking CGI effects. I’d be tempted to suggest that the hammer is a metaphor for something, perhaps even a penis… but nope, I think this song is really about a fucking hammer. In that way, it truly is Gloryhammer’s bold mission statement: what and who are this band, if not everything this song is and what it represents? It doesn’t get any better than this as far as power metal goes!

Watch the new video for “Gloryhammer” below. Legends from Beyond the Galactic Terrorvortex comes out on May 31 via Napalm Records; pre-order here. Upcoming tour dates in the U.S. and Europe here.
