Video Premiere: Dyscarnate, “Backbreaker”

0

If something looks familiar about the new video for “Backbreaker” from rising U.K. death metal princes Dyscarnate, that’s because it is: the clip was filmed at the same shoot as the video for “Iron Strengthens Iron,” released in July of 2017. Dyscarnate certainly aren’t trying to fool you with any shenanigans, though, as the new video starts where the old one left off, literally: the clip for “Backbreaker” begins with the final seconds of “Iron Strengthens Iron,” exactly as it was in that video, We then see the band pause for a few seconds, check their amp settings, take a quick swig of water, then get right down to business with the next song. It’s a no-frills video approach from a no-frills band, whose live show comes off just as tight, polished, and business-like (in a good way… not clinical) as they appear in these videos. The shots are gorgeous, too, spinning around the band members — who assemble in a circle facing each other in a display of brotherly-like camaraderie instead of playing to an imaginary audience — to give the performance a sense of motion akin to their live shows that studio music videos so rarely capture.

Check out “Backbreaker” below, directed and edited by Tom Bohan. Dyscarnate just finished up a U.K. / Ireland tour with Decapitated and promise major U.S. and European tour announcements soon. They have three dates scheduled for the summer (two in the U.K., one at Germany’s Summer Breeze festival), which you can find underneath the video. The band’s latest album, With All Their Might, and merch are available here.
