Here’s Footage of Deftones Performing “My Own Summer (Shove It)” in 1997 for the First Time Ever

Earlier this month a live video of Deftones performing “Be Quiet and Drive,” — allegedly for the first time ever — made the rounds online much to the delight of longtime fans. Now another song from that show, which took place in their hometown of Sacramento, CA on September 11th, 1997, has wound up on the interwebs, again via DeftonesLive (filmed by Walker Edmonson).

As with the first clip, the electric energy in the room on this one is palpable, unique to a band that’s on the up-and-up and riding that wave. Around the Fur would come out about a month after this performance, yet everyone in the audience is losing their minds to a song they’ve never even heard before. Truly a special moment for Deftones.

Edmonson captured footage of the band performing “My Own Summer (Shove It)” at soundcheck before the show as well. You can watch both videos below.
