Jona Wright, age 27 and daughter of Obituary bass player Terry Butler, has died from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle crash on Tuesday, May 7 in Hillsborough County, Florida. Thankfully her two sons, ages six and ten, escaped with only minor injuries, according to police. The events happened in the midst of the bassist’s tour with Hatebreed, prompting Butler to take a leave of absence. It’s uncertain when, or if, he will return.
A friend of Jona has launched a GoFundMe campaign, a portion of which reads:
“The boys are staying with their grandparents. Thankfully, they have been very present in their lives so the boys are comfortable with them. However, this is a large unexpected expense on their part. We are hoping to collect donations for the grandparents to use for the boys’ living expenses and other needs. The grandparents will use the donations as they deem fit for their necessities.”
