Exclusive Track and Video Premiere: “Paroxysmal Dance” by Serpent of Gnosis (Job for a Cowboy, The Black Dahlia Murder, Deeds of Flesh)

One of the new bands about whom we’re most excited this year is Serpent of Gnosis. And with good reason! The project unites three-fifths of Job for a Cowboy’s strongest line-up (vocalist Jonny Davy and guitarists Tony Sannicandro and Al Glassman) with equally-impressive members of The Black Dahlia Murder (bassist Max Lavelle) and Deeds of Felsh (drummer Darren Cesca).

And while sometimes a group like this ends up being less than the sum of its parts, Serpent of Gnosis very much live up to its members’ pre-existing legacies. As demonstrated by their new single, “Paroxysmal Dance,” Serpent of Gnosis play completely bonkers progressive tech-death of the absolute highest order. “Dance” will absolutely toss you in a blender and then toss that blender into a tornado; it will leave you feeling as though you just barely survived one of its titular seizures. It works as more than just a dip in the pit, though — it rewards multiple listens. As was the case with latter-day JFAC releases like Demonocracy, what may initially register as chaos eventually reveals a method to its madness. This. Is. Great. Shit.

Says Davy of the track and video, which we are very proudly premiering today on MetalSucks:

“We are a collection of small cavemen who enjoy fast and heavy things. This song describes instances of addiction and the dependencies that align with it. This video even includes snakes!”

SNAKES, people! What are you waiting for?!?! Check out “Paroxysmal Dance” via the video below.

The song will appear on Serpent of Gnosis debut album, As I Drink from the Infinite Well of Inebriation, which comes out on June 14 through 1126 Records. Pre-order it here!!!
