Exclusive Track Premiere: Astrosaur’s “Poyekhali”

If you’re not already hip to Astrosaur, well, you need to be. The instrumental Norwegian trio just may be the next great post-metal band. On their sophomore album, Obscuroscope, they swirl together a radiant array progressive mathy jazz-infused rock that will leave you feeling light-headed. It’s the kind of album that perfectly balances expert compositions with “What the HELL…?!?!” levels of musicianship, something that will appeal to be both the nerdiest of gear and theory hounds and more casual listeners alike. It’s awesome stuff.

So, needless to say, MetalSucks jumped at the chance to premier “Poyekhali,” the first single from Obscuroscope! Says guitarist Eirik Kråkenes of the track:

“We’re very excited to release ‘Poyekhali’ as the first song off our next album. In line with the album’s theme of curiosity and exploration, each title comes with a set of dates and coordinates that gives clues about the story that inspired the song. This particular track is inspired by the Soviet space program and their pioneering accomplishments in space flight.”

Check out “Poyekhali” below! Obscuroscope comes out September 27 on Pelagic Records. Pre-order it here!!!
