Japanese Metal Sensations Gyze Unveil Fun New Tune, “Asian Chaos”

0

Japan gets the short-shrift when it comes to metal. Babymetal are obviously getting plenty of attention right now, but outside of them, how many Japanese metal artists could the average metal fan in the rest of the world name? Envy, Sigh, Gridlink, the patriotically titled X Japan, Dir En Grey… and that’s more or less where it starts and ends. One would think a country that’s better than everyone else at pretty much everything would have more to contribute to the international metal community. Maybe there’s a language barrier issue? I’m certain there’s no shortage of talented Japanese metal acts popular only within the country.

Enter Gyze (prouncnced “gee-zay” with a soft “g” as in “gum”), who have been making their mark on the worldwide scene in recent years with their blend of traditional music from their homeland, death metal, thrash and traditional heavy metal that’s as likely to incite a headbang as a singalong. On “Asian Chaos,” the debut single from their new album of the same name, Gyze show just why they’re worthy of attention the world over, blending technicality and catchiness with ease into an overall package that’s just straight-up fun. Asian chaos, indeed! If you can’t get into this, I’m sorry, kindly go sign up to be an officer for the No Fun Police, the precinct of which is right around the corner.

Asian Chaos comes out July 12th.
