Jim Root Can’t Believe You Haven’t Figured Out Who Slipknot’s “Tortilla Man” is Yet

Just yesterday we ran a post highlighting Corey Taylor’s thoughts on the whole “Tortilla Man” mystery Slipknot percussionist thing, and the tl;dr version is this: “He’s a great dude! He’s killing it!” Not stated, but implied: “Can’t believe you all haven’t figured out who he is yet so I’m gonna keep rolling with the gag!”

Now it’s Jim Root’s turn — he of “good thing I’m not in Stone Sour anymore otherwise Corey and I would’ve killed each other!” — and the guitarist all but confirmed my suspicions that we fans were really meant to have figured out Tortilla Man’s identity by now the way we snuffed out bassist Alessandro Venturella some years back. Speaking to Rock Sound, he said:

“I’m actually surprised that nobody has sussed out who it is yet, but nobody has. And in this day and age of social media, with phones and cameras everywhere, that’s kinda interesting. I’ve seen the Tortilla Guy hashtag when I’m going through my IG and all of that and I think it’s pretty funny. It’s weird because I’ve met this guy before, I know who he is, but he’s really kind of elusive, even around our camp. I’ve had some people tell me, ‘Don’t tell us who he is, we’re having fun trying to figure it out!’ So I’m gonna keep my mouth shut about all of that and see what happens. Eventually someday someone’s going to figure it out…”

I’m not sure what hints Root thinks fans could’ve picked up on aside from candid photos involving conspiracy theories revolving around sneakers… but I suppose they’re out there! Keep looking, Redditor Maggots.

Elsewhere in the interview, Root speaks at greater length about his split from Stone Sour and how it was for better. Read the whole thing here.
