Clown from Slipknot Says That Politicians Blame Metal for Mass Shootings “Because They Don’t Know What the Hell They’re Doing”

After the world learned that the perpetrator of this month’s mass shooting in Dayton was a metalhead, a buncha stupid politicians, many of whom are on the take from the NRA, did what stupid politicians have always done: they tried to pin that shit on us. Because, surely, The Acacia Strain, and not the United States’ weak-ass gun laws, are to blame for all this death. (Video games and movies have also been scapegoated, which is equally dumb.)

Unfortunately, we don’t know what Corey Taylor thinks about all of this (although we can surmise, given his left-leaning politics, that he does not think the blame lies with metal music or any other form of media). Fortunately, thanks to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, we do know what Corey’s Slipknot brother in arms, Shawn “Clown” Crahan, thinks about all of this:

“A lot of times, when they divert the plan, the strategy, to things like music, it’s just because they don’t know what the hell they’re doing. They created all these laws, and now they can’t overturn them or even adjust them. They can’t find a happy medium. They can’t compromise.

“And so, when it’s like that, they’re always going to blame some fraction. And I’m the fraction.”

I actually think Clown is giving these politicians too much credit; the gun lobby is much more insidious than his assertion would lead you to believe. Having said that, I appreciate that Clown had to be all Clowny about this and say “I’m the fraction,” not “We’re the fraction,” as though he’d been called out personally or something. Oh, to be in that man’s brain for a day.
