Maynard Received Death Threats Over New Tool Album Delay
Never mind the fact that anyone who calls themself a Tool fan should know that Maynard has never been the reason the band takes so damn long to do shit. That aside, can we please agree that sending a musician a death threat because they haven’t released new music is a terrible, fucked up idea? For that matter, that sending anyone a death threat for any reason is a terrible, fucked up idea?
Furthermore, don’t blame Maynard for openly mocking his own fans. Drummer Danny Carey revealed in a recent interview with Metal Hammer that Maynard received death threats for the 13-year delay of new Tool music, and reiterated what his guitarist said about the blame being misplaced:
“I felt bad for him, and he even told me he was getting death threats from these idiots out there. They just have no idea what our work ethic is. These things don’t happen, man. There’s no other record that’s going to sound like this Tool record. What you hear is what you get, and what you get is what it takes to get it done. And it’s not an easy process.”
Implied but not stated: why is anyone sending death threats over music???
Look, folks: next time you’re mad at your favorite musician or ballplayer or jealous ex-lover or whatever, don’t send a friggin’ death threat. Do something constructive such as work out, make some music of your own or take a baseball bat to an old, broken appliance. Shit, vent your frustration in the MetalSucks comments section for all I care (everyone else does it so you may as well too). Just no death threats, mmmkay?
