Hellyeah Finally Embrace Their Inner Pantera on “Black Flag Army”

Hellyeah have released a new song, “Black Flag Army,” via the below music video. Sadly, it has nothing to do with Black Flag, other than making me want to listen to Black Flag and not this.

Kidding aside, the chorus to the song is actually pretty heavy. Granted, I do not pay super-close attention to Hellyeah, but if they’d always sounded this Pantera-ish, maybe a lot of us woulda felt less compelled to bust their balls so much.

“Black Flag Army” will appear on Hellyeah’s new album, Welcome Home, which comes out on September 27. It features the final recordings by drummer Vinnie Paul, who died last year. The band is on tour now with their new drummer, Roy Mayorga (Stone Sour, ex-Soulfly, etc.). Buy tickets here.
