Killswitch Engage Have Their Own NASCAR Chevrolet Now

Killswitch Engage are the latest metal band to have their own themed NASCAR vehicle, after Megadeth and Slayer. (Although Slayer’s car never even made it onto the track, so, technically speaking, KSE are just after Megadeth.)

As was the case with the Megadeth racer, the KSE-car (KScar?), a Chevrolet Camaro, is a co-venture with Gimme Radio that will driven by Tyler Reddick. The car will make its debut at the 2019 NASCAR XfinitySeries Playoffs, which is set to take place at Virginia’s Richmond Raceway on Friday, September 20 beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN. That very same day, a press release tells us…

“Killswitch Engage will be taking over the Gimme Radio app for the day, playing their new music and other songs they believe fans will enjoy. Beginning at 1:15pm ET that day, Tyler Reddick will join the app’s chat for a Q&A with fans before jumping in the No. 2 Gimme Radio Killswitch Engage Chevrolet for Friday night’s race at Richmond Raceway. “

This makes me very happy for Killswitch Engage, even if the appeal of NASCAR is almost completely lost on me (I guess it’s hypnotic, like watching the iTunes visualizer when you’re baked, but with the added allure of potential death?). I sincerely hope this nets them a ton of new fans, even if those fans are all rednecks.

You can check out a video of the car below. Killswitch Engage’s most excellent new album, Atonement, is out now on Metal Blade.
