Original Motorhead Guitarist Larry Wallis Has Died

Larry Wallis, the original guitarist for Motorhead, has died at 70 years old. The cause of death has not been revealed publicly.

Wallis was recruited by Lemmy Kilmister to join Motorhead in 1975 and would record on only one of the band’s albums, On Parole. He left the band in 1976 but the album, which would be the band’s fourth, wasn’t released until three years later.

Wallis was replaced on guitar by “Fast” Eddie Clarke, who died in 2018, and is the best-known guitarist of Motorhead’s early years. Original Motörhead drummer Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor passed away in November of 2015; Lemmy Kilmister, of course, followed a month later.

During his four decade career, Wallis also performed in the Pink Fairies and for a brief time in UFO. His best known contribution to Motorhead was the track “Vibrator,” which he co-wrote.

On behalf of everyone at MetalSucks, we wish all of Larry’s family, friends and bandmates all the best.
