Michael Jackson + Metal Riffs = Issues’s New Song “Flexin”
After ignorantly writing off Issues for years, I proudly ate a bowl of crow when they released “Drink About It” last month, admitting I’d been a fool for paying them no mind in the past. Better late than never, right? Certainly wasn’t the first time I’ve been wrong about a band and definitely won’t be the last.
So: Issues’ new song “Flexin” is doing everything in its power to continue making a fan out of me, and it’s working. The track combines deceptively intricate metal riffing with an R&B backbeat and funk bassline, laying the perfect foundation for Tyler Carter’s Michael Jackson-like croon. It’s a thing of beauty that’ll have you both headbanging and shakin’ your booty, and the music video that comes along with it is as entertaining a way to waste three minutes of your boss’s time this morning as exists. Highly recommend.
