Stream Rimfrost’s Blackened Death Madness Before Their New Album Drops

0

Swedish blackened death metallers Rimfrost have dropped a few tracks from their upcoming album, Expedition: Darkness, to exhibit a piece of what we can expect from the release.

“Dawnbreaker,” one of three currently available songs, takes the listener on a poetic journey from start to finish. The track begins with a distorted and dissonant prelude reminiscent of first wave black metal and then leaps into voltaic verses of aggressive vocal screams and chunky black metal riffs. Just when the track is building up, it breaks into a slow-paced strumming piece that softens the atmosphere and simultaneously builds tension. Rimfrost don’t disappoint and come back in full power for the song’s finale, escalating more and more and even breaking into some tasty shredding just when you think it’s going to end. Composed of some seemingly disconnected elements, there is order to the sonic chaos and it all comes together beautifully. It ends quite abruptly and leaves you wanting more, maybe intentionally, with it being one of the few tracks available from the upcoming album. It’s a taste of something delicious that you’ll be craving until you can get your hands on the whole thing.

Expedition: Darkness comes out on October 18 via Ferocious Records. You can preorder it here! Stream “Dawnbreaker” below.
